Yellowstone. Mammoth Hot Springs.

VERY hot summer day. I don't really like the color version of this photo. The lighting is hard and the polarizing filter (or, rather, my poor use thereof) has darkened the sky so much it became almost black. Doesn't look natural to my liking (not that B/W is more natural, but I like it more in this case).

15 min before the rain.

This shot was taken from the Blue Ridge Parkway, just south of the Shenandoah National Park, VA. Tha rain was coming from behind my back and 15 min later the view was gone and everything was soggy, wet, and miserable.

The image was processed as follows:
- conversion from RAW
- levels
- tweaking shadows/highlilghts (very little)
- duplicate layer, then USM (0.8/304/0)
- luminosity blending, opacity to ~80% Posted by Picasa

Another shot from Glacier.

This is the view towards Iceberg Lake from the Iceberg Lake trail.
Tried to experiment here a little by merging two images with different exposures. Posted by Picasa

Remembering summer

For starters, a couple of pictures taken during last August's trip to the Glacier National Park, Montana. These were taken at the Hidden Lake trail.
Here is Hidden Lake itself, as seen from the trail before the descent:

These two guys showed up when we stopped at the trailside for a quick snack.

It's been depressing in NYC.... Wet Christmas.
